Mystara: Out of Time

A long time ago, magicians and monsters from the Shadowlands fought each other in an epic battle, both with different goals: the magicians wanted to save the world while the monsters wanted to watch it burn. During the battle, seeing that magicians were being defeated, in an effort to save you, your mother sent you to the other side of the world, and with your magic you realize there are only a few days left before the monsters arrive to your location as well. It is on you to save the three realms from the imminent threat - the devil monster MidnightBlaze and its followers.

Motivation

The player wants to save the world because they are the only ones that know what’s to come... The game involves preparing for the final battle in a limited amount of time, which can be challenging. Each playthrough will be different, because different levels of reputation with each of the realms can lead to divergent outcomes in the fight against the dragon.

Game Goals

The main aim is to get as much reputation as possible from the local realm’s habitants. Travel around the world, interact with people and gain their trust by completing quests, so that when the time comes, you can join forces to destroy the monsters and avenge your people. Hurry, time is counting. Learn skills to defeat the monster leader, before it destroys the whole world.

How to install

To install the game, follow the link provided in the download section.
Download the zip file and extract its contents to a folder of your choosing.

How to play

To play the game, open the folder that contains the de-compressed zip file and double click the executable “Mystara_OutOfTime.exe”.

This will open the game’s main menu, there you can change some settings like the game’s visual quality and the sound volume, or you can play the actual game.

When pressing the “Play” option you’ll get taken to a “choose difficulty” screen which currently has 3 options “easy”, “normal” and “hard”, choose one of them according to your tastes, then the game will enter a small loading stage which can take between a few seconds to just under 30 seconds (depending on your computer).

To play during the actual game use “WASD” or the arrow keys to move the character and the mouse to look around. There are a few extra mappings represented on the bottom left of the screen detailing how to open the map, the pause menu, the skill tree and the skill swap screens.

The gameplay consists of exploring the map, killing monsters in certain realms to gain reputation and then, when the time reaches 0 fighting the final boss.

Game end is achieved by either killing the final boss or dying.
